Gerlinde Tynan MD

Gerlinde S. Tynan, M.D., FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in breast cancer. She received a Bachelor of Science with honors in Molecular Biology from the University of Wyoming in Laramie. After graduating from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle she completed her general surgery residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson. In addition, Dr. Tynan has served as the Medical Director for a prior hospital Breast Program. Dr. Tynan is an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, a fellow in the American College of Surgeons, and one of a few surgeons certified in breast ultrasound. At prior hospitals in Arizona and Colorado, she collaborated to achieve NAPBC accreditation.

Dr. Tynan’s operative techniques include oncoplastic lumpectomies, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and traditional as well as skin and nipple-sparing mastectomies with or without immediate reconstruction in conjunction with plastic surgery. She offers the full spectrum of breast cancer care; appropriately selected patients may be offered radiation therapy catheters and those undergoing chemotherapy may have infusion ports placed.

Dr. Tynan believes in crafting individualized treatment plans for each patient, based on national guidelines while taking into account their particular pathology, risk factors, and personal wishes. When not treating patients, Dr. Tynan enjoys spending time in the outdoors with her husband and two young sons.
